Just the feeling of watercolors flowing thru the textured paper, just makes me tingle all over. These are for a future project, I hope to sell or exhibit more of these "art cards" :)

Again I was inspired by May Ann Licudine from her cat paintings. You can't see it from the pic but I added some gold paint to the lucky charm and some gold dots here and there.

Tried to paint again after so long, and it felt so good. I took the inspiration from one of my most favorite Pinay artists, May Anne Licudine. Her whimsical works and colors gave the idea for this. And I am very pleased with the outcome.

Hopefully I get to paint more soon. I wanna get those art juices flowing again!

The idea started out as me wanting to paint some KOI fish, then sketched some rough layouts, and I added a little chinese boy with his lucky lantern. I was happy i got to incorporate some chinese into the painting(somehow).

do you see the pretty and shiny gold paint? i love applying gold paint, and i try not to overdo it.

How is everyone? I'm still in the process of figuring out what the heck my style is.

This was a quick pencil sketch and digitally painted, a bit sloppy.

I went for the feel of the lighting on this one.

Anyway theres nothing new, same old work. I'm abit nervous for the announcement if our animation gets funded or not, sheesh please please please fund it. Or else I'll just have to sell it to another willing sponsor then.

Me and my friends went out last Sept. 13 to eat dinner and make lanterns fly~

We had two lanterns, the furst one died a miserable death.

the second one lived a short but beautiful life. :D

it was an awesome first time experience, i hope we get to do it every year :D

Hello everyone, how's it going? Sorry for the lack of posts for the past 2 months(?!) gasp.

anyway here's a little something I did for a friend,

they were opening a tea shop and asked me to do a mural for them(sweet!).

first thing I do is sketch out some thumbnails to give them a feel of how

it would look like, or if they want a new composition/angle or want something added.

From there I put in the lighting in a gray tone, then the client would

see if this is good or not. If it is, then on to the next stage. :)

OH COLOR~ what FUN :P

here I put in colors, details, blah..

here is the finished product.

hopefully i get more projects(i'm running out of money here =.=)

oh BTW here's a sneak peak of our new upcoming animation project with Karlene Co and Blog Caliguia. Hopefully we get funded. :| Credits to Jeunesse Jao for the story, concept, etc~ :D

I have never posted anything about my animations before, so lo and behold, something I'm making for a local Non-Government Organization here. Very limited animation. They plan to make it into a storybook(?) MAYBE.

It's for educational purposes, like an infomercial of sorts.

Sold a lot of these little blank journals with some of my hand-painted ones to those who were in desperate need of some cheap sketch journals :) All of these are hand-made and I take orders mostly from here in the Philippines, for orders abroad, maybe I can send it via DHL, UPS, or something.

Anyhow, here are some of the hand-painted brown kraft paper journals I sold last October and November.

Below: This was when I was so desperate for Baked Potatoes and/or Mashed Potatoes. I drew out my hunger. Still had no potatoes after that.

I don't have a specific favorite animated character so I drew my own. Seems fair enough.

Since I can't decide from SO MANY wonderful animated characters out there. ARGH too many characters to choose from :( It's more of the style that I love, 1950s style of animation. Which I think has the best style of animation EVER made. It's like moving ART! :D

day 4: favorite place

unfortunately I have too many favorite places. So I just drew a few of them here.

1st is when I'm outside under my little umbrella then it stops raining, and you see many wonderful puddles, and the reflection of the city streets against it. Such beauty in the most unusual places.

2nd is "Regina's" a little bright pink colored Carinderia just near our college. They have really good home cooked fod and its SO cheap, includes a pitcher of water and free soup! Isn't it just great? :D It's good for you too, IF you order the veggies.

3rd who doesn't want to be in the HEAVENS? flying through the clouds!

4th is my favorite of the 4 drawings, it is my sanctuary, my resting place, my place to dream, my bedroom. :)

day 3: Favorite Food

i'll post it in a different way.

Since every single food i eat that pleases my taste buds is a FAVORITE,

so here's a little treat for you all.

a little recipe i picked up from Laura Caulder's "French Food at Home" cooking show.

i did my own little version of this little hearty stew.

Quiperat(sorry folks I'm not good in French, I apologize if the spelling of this supposed word was deemed WRONG) I pronounce it as "ki-peh-ra".

this recipe serves 1-2 persons depending on how much you eat.

I eat alot so I'm probably eating for 2.

Ingredients:

1-2 Red Bell Peppers(the big luscious ones, you can also use the green kind), take out core and seeds, cut into strips
2 small tomatoes, seeded and cut into quarter strips
1-2 white onions(red onions will also do just fine), chopped
1-2 medium sized potatoes(estimate of 1 potato for each person), peeled and cut into strips
salt and pepper to taste
olive oil for cooking
estimated about 2-3 cups water
1 egg(one egg per person)

Procedure(I warn all of you, I don't remember all the exact steps so just try to experiment with it and GOOD LUCK)

Heat a large pan with the olive oil, enough to cook all the peppers, potatoes, onions, and so forth.
Add the potatoes first since they take the longest to cook. Cook until tender then add the Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, and Onions. Let them all cook until they're all tender. Add a cup of water, slowly stir, cover with the lid then wait until the water is absorbed, then add another cup of water and repeat the process until the whole thing looks like a stewy mixture. Add salt n pepper.
Now the fun part, while the stew is still cooking in the pan, add the egg/s then DON'T TOUCH IT. Let the heat from your stew cook the egg/s. Try not to break the yolk or this will not look good. DON'T LET THE STEW BURN!
Serve the Quiperat making sure not to burst the egg yolk parts.
Eat the egg yolk together with the stew, it will taste DIVINE.

the Binondo sky was beautiful today.

I haven't seen her yet. I'll ask her if she suddenly shows up. "Ameh" is like that, for some strange reason not known to man, she and her whole gang appears and disappears just as fast.

My friend "Ameh" as I'd like to call her. When I saw her picture I instantly grabbed my brush and started painting her face. Loved the roughness of her hair matched with the make-up.

or maybe even curry, curry fuel, curry smoke! yummy yet somehow disgusting. One would die from inhaling too much of that spicy stuff haha!

got to earn enough money for that scanner. darnit.

i will try to draw the inside of my entire house. one day, maybe tomorrow, maybe later, maybe never, maybe if time permits, maybe just maybe. :D

Recent events had me thinking...

it is a student's responsibility to learn, research, if one wants to be better.

but it's also a teacher's responsibility to open that door for students,

to inspire the students.

You cannot say a student MUST do this or do THAT.

Students learn on their own pace, but given the circumstances it just doesn't work that way.

Yes deadlines are crucial and must be met.

But what use are these to students if the students don't learn anything in the process?

Yes students learn a few things here and there, but in a way it is forced upon them.

That isn't learning, that's just shoving it into your face.

who am I to complain? i am but a simple out of my mind artist.

Speaking my mind.

i want to teach these other aspiring animators how to REALLY draw, make stories, develop styles, and most of all make it with passion, with love for the country in their hearts.

what means is people NEED education,

the country NEEDS to educate its people so that people KNOW what they are doing.

That way, people become aware, they become selfless,

they LEARN to LOVE their country.
